whats a tunable car for around $10k?
i want to trade in my scion tc and looking to spend no more than $10k, although i will go higher if the car is exceptionally nice. definitely manual, and either rwd or awd. i want something that has an engine that was made to be tuned, something that can handle a turbo and some power. im also onlt 21, so nothing TOO fancy or my insurance will go way up, so no STi or evos : ( what do you recommend?
not that im unpatriotic, but i do prefer foreign cars. ive owned two japanese cars and i like them a lot. but i am open to domestics as well
1998-02 camaro or firebird with the LS1 engine and T56 6 speed. Very hard to beat for the price.
I know you said you like the imports but if your looking for performance and power the domestics has them beat. Sure you can make the imports fast but it costs 4-6 times as much to get the same power out of them.
450, 475, 500, 550 HP is not very hard to get from a chevy V8, even the 'old school' ones much less the LT1, LT4, LS1
I like old school myself, so I have a 1988 camaro with a 1971 350 that I built in it. Pretty much built car from ground up. Have about 18K totak in car, but its 600 HP NA, all suspension re done with aftermarket parts, 10 point roll cage, ford 9" rear end, etc, etc.. Have done been down the track with this combo yet but shoud run mid to high 10's at 125 mph in 1/4 mile. It pulls 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds now.
My old engine combo in this same car dynoed at 505 HP and ran 0=-60 mph in 3.2 to 3.4 seconds and ran many 11.40's @ 118 mph 1/4 mile passes, with 0' times in the low 1.60's and lifting the front wheels about 4" off the track on launch
It also handles pretty good too

Tunable Optoelectronic Devices $180.02 Tunable devices are key components for various applications, such as wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) optical networks, optical interconnects, spectroscopy, infrared imaging and optical sensing. Various structures and designs have been reported for different applications. Micromechanically actuated devices have intrinsic advantages such as large dynamic range, fast tuning speed, a simple control mechanism, small size, cost effectiveness and process compatibility with other optoelectronic devices. This book discusses design, fabrication and application of monolithically tunable devices done in GaAs. The devices, including filters, detectors and vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELS), were designed for applications in communications, IR imaging and biosensing. How can I build a tunable long range AM transmitter from scratch?
I'm working on a project in which I need to analyze some of the properties of electromagnetic waves in the AM spectrum and I need a transmitter capable of generating relatively high power signals, hence the "long range" part (don't worry about legal issues, as the laws in my country allow this). I also need to be able to tune it to just about any frequency within the AM spectrum. If anyone knows a good way to build such a device, I'd really appreciate detailed instructions and, if possible, the source they came from.
