Is it asthma? Sorry, I know I've already asked, but didn't get the info I wanted!?
I went on a four mile walk yesterday, and it was quite hot. By the time I had walked a mile, my chest felt kind of full and I had to work hard to breathe. It was bad all the rest of the way, and coughing didn't help. When I got back it felt like something was pushing against my chest and I was a bit wheezy had to sit down for a while and wait until it went off. I've had these symptoms before after running/exercising. I was already on strong antihistamines before the walk for my hayfever, and so couldn't have been allergic. Is it asthma?
My Doctor has tested me for allergic asthma, but only by listening to my back with a stethescope, and I've never been exercising and so she's never heard anything. If you do think it's asthma, how can I ask my Doctor to test me?
I'm in good shape, by the way, and healthy. I don't smoke and so it can't be that!

The symptoms of asthma may occur for no obvious reason. They may include:
feeling breathless (you may gasp for breath),a tight chest (like a band tightening around your chest),wheezing (a whistling sound when you breathe), andcoughing, particularly at night
Peak expiratory flow rate test
The diagnosis of asthma can typically be confirmed using a number of tests, the most popular being the peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) test.
The PEFR test uses a small hand-held device known as a peak flow meter which can measure how much air you are able to breathe out of your lungs. A reading is taken, and you will then be given a medicine which is effective in treating asthma in the short-term. A second reading is then taken. If the reading is much higher after taking the anti-asthma medicine, then the diagnosis is normally confirmed.
You may be given a peak flow meter to take home with you, and a diary in which you can record measurements of your peak flow rate. This is a good way of recording how the symptoms of your asthma react to different circumstances.
If the symptoms of your asthma are different than normal (atypical) or you have additional symptoms, you may be referred for a chest X-ray. This is to rule out other lung conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (a lung condition that is similar to asthma, but usually caused by smoking), bronchiectasis (inflammation of the airways of the lungs), or lung cancer.
Exercise-induced asthma
Your GP should be able to identify exercise-induced asthma by asking you about your symptoms in relation to exercise. Common symptoms include a cough (which normally starts 6-10 minutes after exercise) and chest tightness (appearing up to 1-2 hours after exercise).
Your GP will also want to know about any symptoms not related to exercise, such as coughing at night, or breathlessness. This can rule out the possibility that your exercise-induced asthma is being caused by poor asthma control.

Zetris stethoscope and the I pohne
What is this (diagnosis please)?
Okay..
- 46 year old male
-Chronic coughing for over 2 months
-Dry cough
-No other symptoms
- Ex smoker, quit 2 years ago, smoking for a total of about 20 years (a moderate amount of cigarettes a day, not heavy smoker)
Been to doctor twice. Once prescribed with asthma pump that had steroids in it, then roxythromycin (antibiotics) which didnt help.
He had a chest x ray and the doctor said it was all clear. So it cant be cancer can it? Hopefully not. So what is it? He also had blood test. Both doctors checked his chest using the stethescope to listen to his lungs, and they said it was clear.
Would blood test from the arm determine a tumor? He had a blood test mainly to check if he was allergic to birds =S
Now hes on like sudafed or some hay fever thing. I dont think its working.
Please help. Thanks <3 P.S. He hasnt got asthma
my moms friend had a cough that did not go away.ran a million tests, gave meds etc.the cough always came back.
