I am fostering a pregnant dog for my local no kill shelter.?
I took her into the vet the day I got her home and he said everything looked good with her and estimated she was about 5 week along. (He did an ultrasound) He told me I could hear the heartbeats with a stethoscope soon. I was wondering if anyone knew when they can be heard and even how to hear them. We are very excited and hope that all the puppies will find good homes! Everyone should check out local programs like this and see how you might be able to lend a "paw" and help out!!!
I already do.
Get a stethascope put it near her birth canal, and move around the area slowly. or place your hand along her waist and try to feel movement within her. try not to push hard and be careful if you put the stethascope on her where she doesn't have much fur she may freak out because it will be cold to her.

what do i do????
my dog is pregnant and earlier she was having contractions and panting and being restless.........now i have her inside the house and she is panting very little,restless but no sign of any hard contractions like earlier......gooy white stuff is coming out of her area and i dont know what that means eather soooo what is that.....is it going to be ok?????I love her sooo much and i dont want anything bad to happen to her.....oh and she definetly has puppies because you can feel them move and also i have a real medical stethoscope...and when you put it around her stomach you can hear noises....she is due either today or tommorow soooo....what do you think?
I think you should have asked these questions a long time ago! Why was she left outside if she is due to whelp? Why leave her outside at all? If she doesn't deliver the puppies in another hour or so, get her to a vet. Right now you should be with your dog not sitting at your computer.
