What is rattling inside the chestpiece of my stethoscope?
I inherited a stethoscope from a nurse , & inside of the doublesided chestpiece I hear a rattling sound. Like a tiny bead or piece of metal is loose & floating around in it. Is it broken , or is this a a part necessary in aiding the acoustics of the stethoscope?
maybe something is loose..normally a stethoscope is fixed...means no rattling sound...bec. you use it to listen to heart or breath sounds,which should be clear and no added sounds.

I'm 17 nearly 18 weeks pregnant. Ive read somewhere that with the aid of a stethoscope you can hear the babies heart beat.

Where on my tummy do I have to place it?

Do it even work?
While it can theoretically work, there's a reason this isn't the method your healthcare provider will use; it is incredibly difficult to hear the fetal heartbeat over your own heartbeat. Ask your healthcare provider and s/he will be able to use a doppler instrument to let you listen to your child-to-be's heartbeat.
