Stethoscope Paramedic
Paramedic/ Fireman Christmas Presents?
My hubby is wrapping up paramedic school right now, and is about to start Clinicals and Internship soon.. I am trying to get christmas presents that he could really use... Does anybody have any suggestions.. is there anything that would be good to have for work...?? like when he is doing his clinicals and intern.?? Like special shoes? Special anything? lol?? He is already getting a really good stethoscope... are there any other tools or gadgets he would use?? I want to surprise him.. that's why i can't ask him.... Oh.. the fireman part.. he is applying and trying to get picked up for a firefighter position.. sooo... either one = )

What is the BEST stethoscope for a paramedic?
I know everyone is partial to Littmann's but which one? Any other good brands? Any input would be appreciated.
The Littman Cardiology III is one of the best for prehospital care. They can run from $100-$150. Any of the Puretone DRG (Doctors Research Group) stethoscopes are awesome for EMS. They're a little tricky to get used to, but you can hear perfect lung sounds through layers of clothing. Those can also run from $100 to over $150. If you're looking for a cheaper option for the moment, or you wanna see how you like Littmann's, I would suggest the Littmann Classic II S.E. I used that for several years before becoming a medic. It's great for BPs and lung sounds in an ambulance, and the price is about half of the Cardiology III or the DRGs. Here are some links for each of the stethoscopes I just described. Please don't feel like you have to buy one from these places! But if you were curious, I got both of my Littmann's from allheart.com (it was the cheapest both times I was buying), but I got my DRG from my boyfriend when he got a new one, and he got that at a local store. They ordered it for him.
