Is it normal to feel blood flowing in your neck?

When I rest my hand on my neck I can feel blood flowing past my fingers in the supraclavicular area. It's not a carotid pulsation but an actual feeling of bloodflow underneath my fingers. I've noticed it for years, and not made a big deal about it as I'm 25 and healthy.

Today just for kicks I decided to listen with my stethoscope, and there's a definite systolic bruit which becomes much more intense with inspiration. Should I be concerned about carotid artery aneurysm and other badness, or is this just a case of med studentitis? Again, I'm completely healthy and this is asymptomatic.

The most prominent artery in your body in in your neck. You can feel the cartilage rings that make up your throat and it should be right next to that just under your chin. If it's not there you're feeling it, like if you can feel it somewhere else on your throat I still really doubt it's anything to worry about. I can feel my pulse most easily in the hollow of my collarbone while some people can't feel it at all. As long as you HAVE a heartbeat, chillax. If you don't have a heartbeat, that's when it's time to get to the ER. However, if you're worried, simply take your pulse. Look up how many heartbeats per minute you should have, and calculate it. I find it easier to count the number of times my heart beats in 30 seconds then multiply it by 2, but whatever works for you.
