2nd Hand Stethoscope
starting a "Medical Assistant" program?
I am starting a medical assistant program on June 3rd, and am wondering what i need, my school requires me to wear scrubs so Ive gotten those, and i think i'm just going to wear my running sneakers (i'll be on my feet a lot) but what else do i need? most of our class work is hands on, and at the end of the program i'll be doing a 2 month extern-ship. should i buy my own stethoscope or will that be provided? any insight, advice or info would be greatly appreciated!

The school/course should have provided you with a list of what you will need. No school for medical training pays for stethoscopes...get a good one if you are truly sure that is your career course. The cheap ones don't hold up very long. You might need to get your 'bandage' scissors. I'd recommend getting them inscribed with your name as hospitals are known (very well known) for staff ripping such things off. Do not bring a purse..keep valuable on your person. I had scissors stolen and a friend on her first day on the job in a hospital had her purse stolen, I 'lost' a beloved silver bracelet.
