Basic horsey first aid kit?
Ok so I just moved and now have no first aid kit and I wanted to start compiling one. I have a list of a few of the bare necessities that I know that I need but what else? Other items are welcome but I'm really just looking for bare essentials right now so that I can just add on other stuff when I can afford it. So here's my list so far. And if you see something on my list like the furazone and know of a better product let me know.
1.Stethoscope
2.Mineral Oil
3.Thermometer
4.Large syringe for oil
5.Banamine
6.Bute
7.Vet wrap
8.Polos/Quilts
9.Gauze
10.Betadine
11.Furazone
I'm sure I'm leaving some of the important stuff off but I just can't remember everything I had in my old kit and need some help getting started again. Thanks
Ohhh! A horse boot is a great idea. My guy always pulls a shoe at the worst possible time. And of course good old duct tape. Can't live without that 
-Twitch
-Epsom salts
-Wrapped Maxi pad are great for absorbing blood esp. on cannon
wounds and are easier to wrap & cheap
-Scissors
-knife
-tweezers
-lubricants for thermometer
-duct tape (A MUST)
-wound dust is good too, but no a must because you already have
furazone
-cotton
-string or a sturdy yarn
-sunscreen for noses, top of rump, eyes and hear if you clip them
-zinc oxide cream (will sooth burns, rubs)-get in baby section at drug
store
-band-aids
-neosporin
-petroleum jelly
-card with vet info, ferrier info, etc.
-wristwatch if you don't regularly wear one to track heart rate and resp. rate
-card with normal vitals on it if you don't have all of that memorized all ready
-Normal pulse: 28 to 45 beats/minute
-Normal resp: 12 to 20 breaths/min
-Normal temp: 98.5F to 101F (36.9C to 38.3C)
-take rates every other day for two weeks to establish a base line so because horses vary. If you know that your horse has never had a temp about 98.5, then you know that a temp of 101 is probably indicating something. Have that recorded on a card in the kit also.
