Mechanic Stethoscope
What is this squealing coming from the engine area of my 2000 Ford Mustang V6 automatic transmission?
It is NOT the belts nor pulleys. I already had it checked out by a mechanic with a mechanic's stethoscope. They listened to just about everything and even THEY don't know what it is, or where its coming from! I'm SO frustrated!
It began as a "tweet" every second or so, and seemed like it only happened in hot weather and/or when accelerating, but now it has become worse. NOW it is a non-stop, high pitched squeal that is so loud people stare at me crazy when I drive by. It still occurs more frequently upon accelerating, but also keeps going even when I am at a complete stop -once it gets warmed up, (or if it's hot outside). It does not matter whether I have the air conditioning on or not. And not coming from wheels or brakes. I have new rotors, new brake pads and the squeal happens by accelerating the throttle, with the car in park and hood open.
Its the oil pump synchronizer. Its on top of the engine. Change the synchronizer and the cam sensor (its atached to it anyway). And get a new mechanic, he should have known that.
