Fetus Heartbeat Stethoscope

How long before you can listen to a dog fetus's heartbeat?

Just curious. I've inherited my dad's stethoscope and I think I have a pregnant dog. She would be 47 days pregnant, if it's not a false alarm. When she was about 38 days pregnant, I tried listening to her with the stethoscope, but could only detect her heartbeat.

BTW, I'm not going to take her to a vet just to confirm pregnancy. She's a robust little mongrel, so I'm not worried about her having a difficult pregnancy. I just thought it would be cool to play doctor with her. :-)
Jeez, lighten up will you all! I'm with Necro: I've taken care of dogs -- all mongrels -- for 30 years, seen a few pregnancies and births and none of them went wrong. I don't take any of those delicate purebred dogs that are more trouble than they are worth!

And speaking of not knowing what I'm doing, do any of you know the answer to my question? Why bother writing if you can't answer it, nor give any helpful information?
BTW, my dog doesn't mind me probing her. She rather enjoys the attention.

Then you might want to take the dog to a vet due to the fact that you have no idea what you are doing, and wouldn't know if something is wrong. She could go into labor, die, or all the puppies die, or both, because you are too cheap and lazy to take her in to a vet.

I also think you might be a troll

Pregnancy Week 10: Officially A Fetus

Pregnancy week 10 is important to the development of your baby; from being an embryo, he or she is now a fetus, which literally means 'little one". This week is the start of the rspid growth of your baby. By this time, he or she is also less prone to congenital malfunctions or physical growth defects

Your baby is now more human-looking. His or her tail has disappeared already and fingers and toes are now present. Ears and tooth buds are also forming. His or her vital organs, which include the liver, kidneys, intestines, brains, and lungs, are already fully developed and functioning. The eyelids are not transparent anymore.

The amniotic sac is developed and provides the fetus with warmth and protection. Every minute, 25,000 new neurons are created by the baby's brain. Also, the spinal nerves stretch out from the spinal cord. Your baby will start producing testosterone if he is a boy.

This week, your baby starts moving and kicking but you would not be able to feel it yet. The heartbeat can already be heard with the help of a Doppler, which is a hand-held sound wave stethoscope.

By the end of the week, your baby would weigh about 4 grams and measures about 1½ inches or 3 centimeters long.

In your 10th week of pregnancy, your uterus has grown to the size of a grapefruit. Because of the increase of blood volume during pregnancy, your veins may become more noticeable, particularly in your tummy, breast, and legs. Your morning sickness may start to fade gradually but with its disappearance, emotional instability begins.
