Stethoscope Baby Heart
How far along do you have to be in order to hear the baby's heart beat with a stethoscope??
not a doppler. I know you can hear your baby's heart beat with a regular stethoscope ( like the doctor listens to your heart with) I know a doppler can pick it up as early as 9-10 weeks.
i'm told a minimum of 20 weeks, but i'm 22 weeks and still cant hear it. they say many people cant hear it till way up in the pregnancy.

Chesty coughs in baby's?
my daughter is 13 weeks old and since the age of about 4 weeks old has
suered from a chest cough, we took her to see the local gp and he diagnosed
her with suspected asthma, he gave us a pump but to no avail, it didn't seem to work.
So we went back and he gave us some bricanyl syrup but again nothing seemed to work.
We took her back yesterday and the Doctor but his stethoscope(sp?) on her chest and
said he could hear some rattling and also mentioned reference to her heart, I couldn't
quite understand him but made some refrence to it maybe been a little 'crooked'? he said
it nothing to worry about as he has one..but has referred us to the hospital, We're
both very worried now despite the doctor saying it's nothing to worry about, despite her
wheezing and having a chesty cough she seems fine otherwise and is always smiling
and making plenty of noises, I would be grateful if anybody could help, many thanks
I have an 8 mo old son who's had this prob since your daughter's age. After numerous visits to his ped, we were referred to a pulmonologist, who put him on QVAR, an inhaler for asthma. Since then, no wheezing. He has a rattling nasal sound(not baby boogers), that we are referred to a ENT doc for, that appt is in May, and it's to run a scope down his nose and throat to check for swollen adenoid glands. It really isn't that serious, but it's good to have someone tell you what is wrong and how to fix it. Get your ped to send you to a pulmonologist and get chest xrays. If they won't do it, go to a diff ped. Like I said though, my son is so much better now that he started the QVAR inhaler. No wheezing or chesty coughing.
