What kind of stethoscope would be good for a general practice nurse?
I'm going to nursing school and I want to buy a stethoscope that's going to be good quality but not too expensive. Any suggestions?
I find that anything by Littmann is a good product with the single-lumen tubing. You can get the select/lightweight style for relatively reasonable price. The Cardiology and Electronic Littmann stethoscopes ARE very nice BUT you're going to be paying a couple hundred dollars for them and that can add up when someone accidentally walks off with it, or you leave it lying somewhere. The single-lumen and shorter the tubing, the better the accousitics BUT longer tubing is a great benefit when you dont want to be right down in someones personal space due to hygiene or infection, etc. I'd go with a basic Littman.
