Normal Heart Sounds Stethoscope

Is this heart rythm normal?

i know its hard to explain sounds using words but im gonna try my best to describe it. i got slight chest pains earlier today, so i grabbed my stethoscope and listened to my heart. now im pretty sure normally ur only supposed to hear 2 thumps, but when i listened to mine, there was a third thump for every cycle of my heart. but it only lasted for a minute. i heard, da da da - da da da - da da da - da da da.... and then it went back to da da - da da - da da - da da. but the third thump i heard was more faint than the other normal thumps. any idea what this could be? is it something i should go to the er for?

normal healthy ppl have arrythmias every now & then. is this the first time u've noticed this? were u exerting urself when this happened?

if u feel severe chest pain or shortness of breath then go to the ER. Sometimes cardiac events can occur without major pain, though.

What is your current pulse & blood pressure? Is there a change in your blood pressure today? 24 hour stores such as WalMart & WalGreens have selfcheck bloodpressure machines.

I'd go to my primary care physician as soon as possible for him to check via stethoscope and to run an EKG. There are other tests he may deem necessary.

On the other hand, you DO have a stethoscope yourself & I'm wondering why. Do you currently have heart problems? Most laypersons don't have stethoscopes. If you have any chronic conditions it would be a good idea to go to the ER to be on the safe side. They can do an EKG, oxygen sat, labwork, & xrays to determine if anything is abnormal. There are numerous causes of irregular heartbeat ranging from mild to serious.
