Doctor Nurse Adult
ADHD....now that i'm an adult?
I've been taking medication for ADHD since I was in fifth grade and it's worked very effectively and every year I had a check up with my doctor to make sure everything was ok. Well, I call my doctor up because my last prescription has ran out and the doctor I've been going to for 8 years disappears and the pediatrics nurse tells me that I have to go to some other adult doctor. When I was diagnosed I had to go see a psychologist. Will I have to go see a psychologist to be re-diagnosed when I go to a new doctor? What kind of doctor should I be making an appointment with?(Why wouldn't the nurses have told me when I came in for my 18 year old check up that I wasn't allowed back? if that is normal practice)
At age 18 they switch you to an adult General Practitioner. Many of them are "Internists." Anyway, all your info will be in the computer, so you should not have to see a psycologist again.

I think it's generally a good practice so that there is no way for accusations of impropriety or sexual advances. If nothing else, some people may feel less insecure and more comfortable if they don't think anything bad is going to happen.
Billy Graham (as an example) always made sure that someone was in the room when he was counseling or talking to a woman, and he never had anyone accuse him of sexual advances or anything in a negative light. I think that serves as a great witness for what should be done in all cases where two members of the opposite sex are meeting together... there should be someone else to serve as a witness if nothing else.
