What is the best stethoscope for a MA?
I am a Medical Assistant student. I just started my clinical classes and am being advised to buy a BP cuff and a stethoscope. What are some good choices? Obvious I need something reasonable as I am a student. Someone suggested getting a stethoscope that has two tubes instead of one, or something like that. Does anyone know what that is technically called, or what exactly she meant? She said it helps get clearer sounds. Thanks so much!!!
I concur. Buy the cheapest one out there, don't exceed $20 for each item. This is for learning purposes only. The clinic where you'll eventually work, they have higher quality stuff so it'll be a waste of money buying high quality stuff which you won't use.
The other reason is to keep in mind, you're not a cardiologist. You don't need to have a top notch Littman stethoscope to hear every nuance of heart sounds, bruits, and auscultations of lung fields. You just need a basic scope that allows you to hear for yellow and red flags. Let the docs diagnose what the problem is, that's their job.

You truly do not need an expensive cuff kit at all. Don't bother buying pediatric or obese size cuffs, borrow them from other classmates. Again, there are far superior ones in your future clinic that costs hundreds of dollars. You just need a basic learning cuff, and that one does the trick wonderfully.
Or, what you can do, if you're pressed for cash, visit each local doctor in your area. Ask them if they have a scope or cuff they're willing to give you. They may have an old one that they like to get rid of. Sometimes drug reps give some cheapo freebies of these items that's not up to our standards, but perfect for learning. An extra bonus, at the same time, it gives you exposure to let them know that you're a potential hire in the future.

Is the sound quality of Littman Stethoscope that clear?
I saw in this review site on Littman Stethoscope ( http://www.littmanstethoscopereview.com )
that Littman sound quality is unequaled and even faint sounds can be heard very well in Littman.
Is it really true?
In general, yes. If you can pay for their premium scopes.
Their "economy" (< $100) scopes are probably about the same as comparable scopes from other makers.
